Houston Community College Northwest announces Dr. Kathy Anzivino as the new Dean of Student Development.

"Dr. Anzivino is unquestionably passionate about higher education, but her motivation for wanting students to succeed and being an active member of the community is admirable. We are fortunate to have her talents and look forward to all the great work she will produce for our West Houston campuses," said Dr. Zachary Hodges, President, HCC Northwest.

Overseeing HCC campuses in Alief, Katy and Spring Branch, Dr. Anzivino's role will include providing oversight for Advising, Counseling, Admissions/Enrollment Services, Job Placement and Financial Aid. She is also co-directing a college program that focuses on the success of first year students.

Dr. Anzivino comes to HCC from Blinn College where she held similar positions in student success and services for four years.

Before Blinn, Dr. Anzivino worked at Houston Baptist University, University of Houston, Texas State University and Stephen F. Austin State University. One of her most successful career moments was overseeing the planning, construction and opening of University of Houston's new recreation center in 2003.

Dr. Anzivino holds a bachelor's degree in recreation administration and a master's degree in interdisciplinary studies from Texas State University, and holds a doctorate in higher education administration and supervision from the University of Houston.

"Working in higher education for thirty years, I believe that everyone should have access to college and can be successful with the right resources," said Dr. Anzivino. "HCC is an institution that provides those resources and is committed to student success. These are some of the many reasons why I'm honored to join the team."

Dr. Anzivino lives near Jersey Village in Northwest Houston with her youngest daughter. Her two older children are college graduates that live and work in Houston. She is an avid runner, active with Girl Scouts and member of St Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church.
