HCC softball team hard to beat at bat

HOUSTON, TX (July 21, 2008) – The HCC co-ed and men's teams exhibit a real threat on the softball field.  The co-ed team has a 6-0 record and the men's team is off of the ground with a 1-1 record.

The co-ed team swept their first two games Monday, July 7th, winning the first 15-6 and the other by forfeit.  Monday, July 14th the team pressed forward with two more wins including one with a high score of 21-6. 

During the July 21st games, the co-ed team earned two more wins, making them undefeatable.  HCC won the first game 14-3 with softball player Joe Berkey bringing in two homeruns.  The second game was won 9-7 with HCC down by one run during the last inning.  It was then a tie game with two outs and a runner on second base and third base in scoring position.  Barbara LaRosa ended the game when she hit the ball down the third base line allowing both runners to score!        

Although the men's team was rained out for their first scheduled game on Wednesday, July 9th, they came back strong during with one win and one loss on Wednesday, July 16th.  The first game was won 10-8 because of the superb defense played by the HCC team.  Though the men's team lost the second game 19-3, they played against the most seasoned team in the league with the best chemistry, the Academy Sports and Outdoor Falcons.      

The HCC softball teams ask for your support to help them bring in many more wins!  All games are played at Cullen Park located at the intersection of Saums Road and Barker Cypress, just two miles north of I-10.  Concessions are available during the games.
