About the Program
“CRC’s or Workforce Certificates are a key accountability measure for business and industry in the 21st Century. Reading, Mathematics, and Locating Information related to business skills are crucial for entry level workers. Ask any employer. These certificates can revolutionize the way entry level employees are hired and promoted.”
Dr. Zachary R. Hodges, Northwest College President
Houston Community College has launched the first Career Readiness Certificate program in the city of Houston. The program allows job seekers to undergo a nationally recognized skills assessment to formally credential the person\'s employability skills and training capability for jobs across most occupations.
HCC is now conducting a pilot program for students in workforce programs, who will be awarded Bronze, Silver, or Gold-level Career Readiness certificates based on their assessment scores.
The certificates clearly define each of the workplace skills the recipient has demonstrated, and offers potential employers a snapshot of a candidate\'s basic workplace skills and trainability.
All holders of the HCC certificates are automatically eligible for the National Career Readiness Certificate, a widely recognized, portable credential, issued by ACT.
Beginning this summer, the Career Readiness Certificate will be available not only to HCC students, but to the general public as well.
