BIO

Nkechi Uchegbu joined Houston Community College in 2024 as the Lead Counselor for the Central Campus. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Health from Prairie View A&M University in 2007, and a Masters of Science degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling from Langston University in 2010. Nkechi is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

BIO

Rocio is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Certified Sex Therapist specializing in working with individual, couples, family, and group therapy. Rocio offers bilingual services, in English and in Spanish.

During the first nine years of her professional career, while in Guadalajara, Mexico, Rocio worked for an institution for higher education developing curriculum, coordinating and facilitating adult education programs for alumni, and for the working and entrepreneurial communities. Later, she lived in the Midwest where she facilitated an acculturation training for immigrants and provided to the community cultural training to local groups including the police and the fire departments to better support the Hispanic community. She also served refugees and other minorities.

A LGBTQI+ friendly graduate of Indiana University, with 14 years as a marriage and family therapist and business owner, she specializes in relationships, couples, family communication, and conflict problems, and support groups; in her private practice she has worked with a broad spectrum of clients. Among her areas of expertise are sexual issues, relational problems, post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD), anxiety and depression, communication problems, conflict resolution, domestic violence, anger management problems, gender issues, stress management, career planning, and life transitioning issues.

In addition to being a successful and seasoned relationship therapist, Rocio has presented at an international conference level speaking on the topics of mental health issues for a Hispanic population.

Her interactive, solution-focused, and post-modern therapeutic approach provides support and practical feedback to help clients effectively address personal life challenges. She integrates complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach that is tailored to each client. With compassion, respect, and understanding, Rocio works with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to accomplishing.

Education

Rocio holds a degree of Master of Science in Education from Indiana University with a major in Marriage and Family Therapy. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from a  Jesuit University of Guadalajara, Mexico, ITESO and completed an in-depth training in Gestalt Therapy.

Rocio holds two licenses in Texas: Marriage and Family License, and Licensed Professional Counselor. She is also a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT). In addition, she is a certified sex therapist through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT).

Ms. Nicole Loving is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) within the state of Texas. Ms. Loving joined the Houston Community College-Central’s General Counseling Department in 2017. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology and Master’s of Art in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University. Ms. Loving has been working within the field of mental health for 10 plus years. Her areas of expertise include chronic mental illness treatment, substance abuse treatment, and individual and group counseling with at-risk populations.

Ms. Jette E. Lott has been a Counselor since December 1999. In March of 2008, she began working as the ADA Counselor at Houston Community College Southeast and has been working as the ADA Counselor in the Ability Services Department at Houston Community College Central since September 2012. Jette E. Lott is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). She earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling in Higher Education from Western Michigan University in 1999 and earned her Education Specialist Certificate in Rehabilitation Counseling from Wayne State University in 2004.

Ms. Senta Eastern is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) in the state of Texas and holds National Certification in Counseling (NCC). Senta Eastern joined the Houston Community College family as an ADA Counselor in 2013. She began her career as a counselor after earning her Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from the University of New Orleans (UNO). Her mission to provide services in support of persons who are differently-abled began over 12 years ago. She has served as a re-integration counselor for individuals and families traumatized by natural disasters. She also specializes in student recruitment and retention measures, outreach, career coaching, and life skills training. She has over 10 years of experience in higher education and has provided clinical mental health services in both private and community mental health agencies
