Why did you enroll at HCC Coleman College?

I learned that Coleman is responsible for creating many of Houston’s great medical professionals, and I wanted to be a part of the college that does that.

Why did you choose your program of study?
As someone who has no medical experience, I am taking stepping stones into the medical profession. I would like to start off as a medical assistant, and eventually work my way up to a registered nurse.

What do you like best about your college experience?
I love my professors and my program director. They are easy to get along with, and they push me to succeed and have fun at the same time.

What do you like best about your program of study?
We learn how to take a patient’s vitals, provide care during emergencies, and even learn how to draw blood. It keeps me conscious of how I can care for people’s health.

When you are tired, what motivates you to push forward?
My biggest motivator is my family. People look to me to be a provider and a helper, so their dependence on me is what pushes me to keep going.

What advice can you offer to help other students succeed?
Schedule time to rest. We’re not robots. We need to plan to rest, too, or we can push ourselves to a point of extreme exhaustion.

Extra! Extra!
As a member of SGA, I am here for all Coleman students. If there are any concerns you have about your program, or if you have any ideas on how we can make our school better, please reach out to SGA members. We’re here to advocate for you!
