About the Innovation Fellows Program

West Houston Institute's Innovation Fellows Program is a year-long opportunity for personal and professional growth open to all full-time faculty and staff designed to cultivate the mindset and skill set needed to bring about innovation in higher education today.

Participants will join an interdisciplinary cohort of faculty and staff centered at the West Houston Institute, HCC’s hub for strategic innovation. If selected, you will become part of an exclusive group charged with reimagining and reinventing the educational experience at HCC and empowered to share the resulting innovative practices with your peers across the institution.

Innovation Fellows enjoy additional opportunities to stay involved at the West Houston Institute beyond their first year. We actively work with Fellows on select projects to help them reach their full impact at the college. Many Fellows also participate as team members as part of WHI’s programs and initiatives.

The Innovation Fellows cohort meets weekly during the Fall and Spring semesters and holistically engages participants through knowledge and praxis in activities where:

  1. Fellows will learn methods of activating their own creativity to transform their professional practices to become agents of change within the institution.
  2. Fellows will train in the use of current and emerging technologies to elevate their own technological skills to better engage in our global and digital future.
  3. Lastly and most importantly, Fellows will collaborate with their peers across disciplines and departments to respond to the complex challenges facing higher education today.
