The Houston Community College Foundation Board has elected six new members to serve three-year terms. The HCC Foundation supports HCC in attracting and educating Houston-area students who embody the desire and dedication to learn, including many nontraditional students and those who have traditionally faced barriers to higher education.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) awarded Houston Community College and San Jacinto College $1,478,965 for three additional years to continue their joint project titled, “Louis Stokes B2B Alliance: Harris County Community College Alliance (HCCCA).”

Former Lamar Institute of Technology President/CEO, Lonnie L. Howard – a 1995 graduate of Houston Community College – was recently bestowed the honor of having the institute’s technology center bear his name. The renaming of the Dr. Lonnie L. Howard Technology Center was at the direction of the Texas State University System Chancellor and Board of Regents in recognition of Howard’s contributions as president of the Beaumont, Texas institute for six years before he stepped-down in August.

On the fifth anniversary of Hurricane Harvey, Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and Houston Community College (HCC) Chancellor Cesar Maldonado, Ph.D., P.E., signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will address one of the City's significant goals - to train 500,000 citizens, employees, small businesses, volunteers, and first responders in new resiliency training programs starting in the Fall 2022.
